Here is the first 7 pages of a comic I have been developing for the last few years. I have the entire first issue finished and have been working on issue #2. This has been a slow process because of work and other of lives curve balls, but I’m getting there. I’m also in the process of developing the look of the main characters and dropping some designs.
So what’s this story all about? Good question! Glad you asked. So, ever since childhood I’ve always been the kid who asked: But what if..? One of main “what if’s?” was what would happen if we didn’t have the technology to stop superheros? If you notice every story, comic, or movie there is always some new advance technology that no one knew existed to come save the day against the powerful antagonist. But what if that didn’t exist? What if there wasn’t a S.H.E.I.L.D. to stop the super villain, Jaegers to battle Kaiju, or some secret advance technological military lab just waiting to arm our soldiers against Earth dominating aliens. What if super humans appeared and we just had us? What if every country had new and powerful human popping up? What if drug cartels now had ultra powerful members? How far would the government go to stop and capture super criminals? How fast would civil rights be revoked and world powers fall? That’s what I hope to capture in this series. Hope you like it and any feed back would always be appreciated.

Panel 1:
Police Captain Stan “Killer” Kilgore stands amongst the wreckage of a house. He is wearing body armor, a gun at his hip, and a military helmet cockeyed on his head. He is smoking a cigarette. Another officer is standing beside him, Police Lieutenant Greg Weaver, wearing full riot gear with a large gun (M-16 or M400) over shoulder. He holds a tablet off which he reads. Both of their gear says TPD on front and HARRT (Heavy Action Ready Response Team) on the back.
Caption:
Just another day.
Greg: “We have two dead in here. One female age 29 and one child, male, age 6. That brings the total to 14 civilians dead and 32 injured. Two of ours dead, both normals, and eight injured: two normals and three “Supes”. One of them, Stanton, most likely won’t make it through the night. “
Panel 2:
Stan is squatting down and picking up a toy (same toy that Charlie was holding), and putting is cigarette out on the ground, his helmet slides down on his head. The Greg standing behind him still reads.
Greg: “As for the “Dooms”, we have a total of six dead and two in custody. The “Supes”, sorry officers, chased them as far as Lincoln and 5th, but they could not bring the big guy down, so they called off pursuit. He is being followed by a fly’er, I think Jackson, but ordered not to engage. Killer, it seems we may have our first Super heavy on our hands.”
Panel 3:
Stan stands up fast and flings the helmet off his head, he is enraged. The Greg looks up from his note pad.
Stan: “Get this the fuck off my head. What good does it do anyway?! Jesus! And stop calling them “Dooms”! Fuck I hate that! They’re not cartoons! They’re not super villains for Christ sake! They’re criminals, murders, cop killers…”
Panel 4:
Looking down in his hand that is still holding the toy.
Stan: “child killers.”

Panel 1:
Both Stan and Greg turn to face a huge man that is leaning in the hole in the house looking in on them. He is wearing a police uniform with the TPD of front of his shirt and HARRT on back, a police badge hangs around his neck. He is very muscular and his skin looks very hard but he looks very beat up and injured. His name is Sargent Michael “Bloxs” Blockman.
Bloxs: “Sir? We have the area secured with two in the van. The female is “sleeping”; she’s a blaster. EMS is here and the shrinks are on the way for the families and some of our guys. The dead “Dooms” are being cuffed and rolled up for transport encase one is a regen.”
Stan: “Thanks Mike. Get Jackson back here and call for a drone to follow and take some images of the other perp, I don’t want to take any chances.”
Bloxs: “Will do sir.”
Stan: “We’ll be out in a second, and Mike, go see the medic. You look like shit.”
Panel 1:
Close up of Stan, lighting another cigarette, and Greg looking straight forward into the destruction.
Stan: “What was this?
Greg: “From the intel it looks like a turf war.”
Stan: “We’ve gone from fist fights, to shootouts, to now they destroy whole cities for a couple of blocks.”
Panel 2:
Stan and Greg stand at the hole in the house staring out at police officers, EMS, large police APC and ambulances fill the neighborhood. Houses are destroyed, debris is scattered all around and smoke fills the air and water runs down the street.
Stan: “The girl she’s a blaster huh? From where?”
Greg: “Eyes, powerful too. She took out a couple of the other “Dooms” and one of ours before we put her down. Blox took a blast right in the chest. Knock him threw that house, but he’s a tough sum’bitch.”
Panel 3:
Close up of Stan, cigarette in his mouth, and Greg is staring off.
Stan: “Who did we lose?”
Greg: “The new recruit, Katie”
Stan: “Shit she was so young. Wait wasn’t she a regen?”
Greg: “Yeah for broken bones or a small caliber round, but not for a blast hole through the chest. I think Bloxs is the only “Supes” that could stand up to that”
Panel 4:
Stan turns on Greg pointing at him with the hand holding the cigarette visibly angered.
Stan: “Then why the hell was she out here! You knew she was just low grade heavy with weak regen and you put her in this blood bath! Shit, was she even fully tested yet?”
Panel 5:
Long panel. Stan and Greg standing facing each other but this time it’s Greg who is angry. He is pointing with on hand while the other is up in disgust.
Greg: “What the fuck did you want me to do? When they call a code “Black” it’s all fucking hands on deck! And if you haven’t noticed we don’t have a lot of “Supes” just standing by to fight the good fight. I didn’t want her out here but what choice do we have? What choice do I have? Don’t you put her death on me! She knew the risk! They all know the risk!”
Page #6:
Panel 1:
Greg is walking away from the hole in the house. Stan watches him walk away.
Stan: “Damn it Greg! Get back here!”
Greg: “Fuck you ‘Killer’”
Panel 2:
Stan still standing in the hole of the house flicks his cigarette as another office runs up on him.
Stan: “Goddamnit!”
New officer: “Sir! We got him! He’s held up in a neighborhood about 3 miles from here.”
Panel 3:
Stan and the officer walk off from the house.
Stan: “Get the tank and the BFV roll’en…”
Officer: “Yes sir”
Stan; “and start the evac back to a 3 block radius…”
Officer: “Yes sir”
Stan: “get some drones up and have Jackson fly CAP…”
Officer: “Yes sir.”
Panel: 4
Stan, and the officer, stop walking and are staring at each other.”
Stan: “Son?”
Officer: “Yes sir?”
Stan: “Now.”
Officer: “oh yeah, Yes sir!”
Panel: 5
The officer is running off and Stan, looking up at the sky, lights another cigarette.
Officer: “Let’s move people. Now! Let’s go! Walker get your ass moving!…”
Stan: “Damn it’s going to be a hot day, God help us.”
