Sim: Background notes:

Daughter of Simarion, the Second Viceroy to King Thanus Goldenbough, Sim has witnessed a terrible transformation sweeping across the realm. A nameless Evil, ancient and formless, coils its shadow around the king’s mind, drawing him into isolation and dimming his presence from the world. Padillion Emberleaf, the First Viceroy, has become the dark whisperer at the king’s side—his words no longer his own, but guided by the unseen power that seeks to claim the kingdom.

Sensing the encroaching doom, Simarion entrusted his daughter, Sim—a devoted Druid of the Evervine—with a perilous quest. She must journey into Etharis, gather allies of courage and spirit, and uncover the source of the Evil that seeks to rule through silence and shadow. Until the truth is revealed and her homeland freed, she cannot return.
Andarna Terresan: Background Notes:

Andarna Terresan journeyed countless times with her father, Forlin Terresan, to the shattered gates of the ancient dwarven city of Underhall. There, before the broken stone doors, he would sit beside her and conjure the lost world with his words—the roar of the great forge, the thunder of mighty hammers striking sprawling anvils, the deep dwarven songs that once rolled like earthquakes through the halls, and the valor of King Hathorn Bronzebeard.

But whenever he spoke of the coming of the Evil and the fall of Underhall, his proud eyes grew sorrowful. Andarna watched the weight of memory bow his shoulders, saw the grief that never loosened its hold. In time, she laid him to rest, knowing he died without seeing the return of their people to their rightful home.
Upon that loss, she forged her own vow. Devoting herself to Mordain the Soulforger, Andarna took up the mantle of a holy warrior. She set forth into Etharis to seek companions of courage and conviction—those willing to stand against the Evil that had broken her people. For only by cleansing the land of its darkness could the dwarves reclaim Underhall and fulfill her father’s long‑dreamed hope.
Deacon: Background Notes:

Raised on the streets from the age of seven, Deacon learned early that survival often demanded more than strength—it required cunning. After his parents were slain by men of unspeakable evil, he had no one until Poe Fangtooth, head of the Cobble Street Guild, took him in. Poe was a hard, unyielding mentor, but he protected his own and taught Deacon every secret of the alleys and shadows. Under Poe’s guidance, Deacon grew sharp, resourceful, and hungry for something more.
Yet the fire in him burned for vengeance. He longed not only to track down those who murdered his parents, but to strike back at the evil that shaped his life. One night, without a word to the guild he called family, Deacon slipped away into the darkness—vowing that one day he would return, his conscience finally at peace. And making a little coin along the way Wouldn’t hurt.
Dr. Sebastian Ekart: Background Notes:

From the marble halls of the University, where the pursuit of knowledge was revered above all, Dr. Sebastian Ekart emerged as a prodigy in the art of dissection. His fascination with the hidden workings of life led him to excel in anatomy, but his curiosity soon grew restless within the boundaries of sanctioned study. Etharis, his homeland, was beset by a creeping malaise—dark creatures prowled the night, and mysterious diseases swept through villages, leaving healers baffled and fearful.
Driven by a relentless need to understand the source of these afflictions, Dr. Sebastian Ekart abandoned the safety of academia. He wandered the shadowed forests and ruined towns, collecting specimens and chronicling the mutations wrought by the spreading Evil. Yet, the answers he sought lay beyond mortal comprehension.
Desperate, Dr. Sebastian Ekart turned to forbidden lore. In a midnight ritual, he forged a pact with a devil—an entity of cunning intellect and insatiable hunger for souls. The devil offered knowledge of the infection’s origins and the anatomy of the creatures it spawned, but the price was steep: a fragment of Dr. Sebastian Ekart’s own soul, pledged for eternity.
Zarcha: Background Notes:

Born among the storm-lashed peaks of the Embercrest Clan, Zarcha was raised on tales of ancient glory and the unyielding code of the Dragonborn. Yet, even as a hatchling, a restless fire burned within—a yearning for something beyond the rigid traditions and endless feuds of his kin. When a bitter dispute tore the clan asunder, Zarcha saw the cost of pride and the emptiness of vengeance. Refusing to be bound by the past, he left his homeland behind, setting out across Etharis in search of a destiny forged by his own hand.
The world beyond the mountains was harsh and unforgiving. In bustling towns and shadowed villages, Zarcha learned that brute strength alone would not fill his belly or keep him safe. He watched, listened, and adapted—picking up the subtle arts of thieves and spies, learning to move unseen, to read the secrets in a stranger’s eyes, and to make a quick coin when hunger gnawed. The Cobblestone Guild became both sanctuary and crucible. Among its ranks, Zarcha found a new kind of kinship: loyalty not to blood, but to those who shared the shadows and the risks.
It was within the Guild that Zarcha met Deacon, a fellow survivor whose own path was marked by hardship and resolve. Together, they joined a band of adventurers—each driven by hope, loss, or ambition. For Zarcha, every battle and every secret uncovered is a step closer to understanding what destiny truly means. The rage of the barbarian still burns, but now it is tempered by the wisdom of the streets and the bonds of chosen family.
Whether facing ancient evils, unraveling conspiracies, or simply surviving another night, Zarcha fights not just for coin, but for a future shaped by his own choices.
