THe setting of Etharis

Two hundred years ago, the world changed forever. A burning star fell from the heavens, striking the heart of Etharis and unleashing a darkness that would never lift. Since that fateful night, the land has been cloaked in perpetual gloom—sunlight, when it dares to break through, is pale and fleeting, chased away by thunderous storms that coil around the impassable mountains. These jagged peaks, forever crowned with roiling clouds and laced with lightning, form an unyielding barrier. No one enters. No one escapes.

The proud dwarves, once masters of the mountain halls, have been driven from their ancestral homes by horrors that now prowl the deep. The elves, haunted by memories of what was lost, have sealed themselves within their ancient forest kingdom, their songs now only whispers among the trees. In the valleys and villages below, humanity and other folk cling to survival, their lives a daily struggle against hunger, suspicion, and the ever-present threat of monsters that stalk the night.

In the midst of this despair, the Church of the Morning Light has risen to prominence. Its priests and armored zealots promise salvation and protection from the terrors that roam the land. Yet, their presence brings little comfort. The church’s justice is swift and merciless, its inquisitors feared nearly as much as the creatures they hunt. Whispers abound that the Morning Light’s radiance casts shadows of its own—shadows that breed fear, suspicion, and betrayal.

Yet, even in a land so steeped in shadow, hope refuses to die. In the forgotten corners of Etharis, a small band of unlikely heroes has come together—adventurers, outcasts, and wielders of strange magics. Each is driven by their own scars and secrets, but all share a single purpose: to push back the darkness that has claimed their world.

Some are seasoned warriors, hardened by years of struggle against the monstrous beings that prowl the night. Others are scholars and mages, drawn by the arcane mysteries that swirl around the object that fell from the sky so long ago. There are those who have lost everything to the Church’s merciless justice, and those who still believe that the Morning Light can be redeemed.

Together, they travel the haunted roads and ruined villages, risking their lives to protect the innocent and to seek out the truth. Whispers speak of a hidden link between the Church’s rise and the star that brought the darkness—a secret that could change the fate of Etharis forever. As they delve deeper into forbidden lore and confront horrors both mortal and monstrous, these few stand as the last, flickering hope for a land on the edge of despair.

In Etharis, every dawn is uncertain, and every shadow may conceal a new terror. But as long as courage endures, the story is not yet over. The struggle for the soul of the land has only just begun.

Welcome to Etharis—a land where every dawn is a victory, and every shadow hides a secret.
